6集系列纪录片《鲜味的秘密》摄制历时2年多，横跨欧亚7国，行程90000多公里，是全球首部详尽探索“神秘第五味一一鲜味”的科学与历史文化的纪录片。不仅在微观世界的分子层面揭示了鲜味的科学本质，更有纵观百万年的鲜味历史和涵盖欧亚7国的丰富地域文明与饮食文化，呈现了人类餐桌百万年间的无尽变化与丰富可能，勾勒出人类求鲜之旅过去、现在到未来的丰富画卷。该片引领观众从“味蕾”出发，上升到“大脑”，进入更为广阔的认知和思考空间。精致唯美的画面、结合中西方风格的作曲、译制片调性的解说、充满童趣的插画风格的动画，结合广告拍摄手法的片头等，都为该片打造了出一张“知性和国际化”的面孔。
The Secrets of Xian(Umami) was created by CCTV-7(Agriculture Program) with the utmost effort. The entirefilming process took over two years. The production crew traveled across 7 countries in Asia and Europe, over 90,000 kilometers in total distance. It not only shows the scientific nature of ' Xian"on molecular scale, but also looks at the civilization and cultures behind it. The series received highly praises from professionals in the industryand attracted alarge amount of attention. After its premiere on CCTV, the series then streamed online on the commercial video streaming platform Youku. Within 2 months, it had received nearly 40,000,000 hits.
